Breast Health: A Proactive Approach with DITI.

Early detection saves lives. At Southwest Medical Thermal Imaging (SWMTI), we believe in proactive, preventative care. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) is a powerful tool for early breast health monitoring—used in conjunction with breast self-exams, clinical exams, ultrasound, and/or mammography.

What Is DITI and Why Is It Important?

DITI is a 100% non-invasive, radiation-free, and painless imaging technique that visualizes heat patterns and blood flow on the surface of the body. These patterns can indicate changes in breast physiology long before structural abnormalities become detectable.

When included in a multi-modality approach to breast health, DITI can:

  • Detect early signs of breast disease
  • Monitor for abnormal physiological activity
  • Identify risk factors before disease develops

This includes detecting subtle changes associated with:

  • Developing malignancies
  • Fibrocystic breast disease
  • Vascular disorders
  • Infections or inflammation

All thermal findings must be clinically correlated and followed up with additional structural testing if necessary.

Why Early Detection Matters:
Active cancer cells can double every 90 days.

However, a tumor typically takes 5 to 8 years to become dense enough to be seen on a mammogram. Thermography offers a unique advantage: It can visualize early lymphatic and vascular activity, often present years before structural changes appear, giving women and their care teams the opportunity for earlier intervention or prevention..

Every woman has her own unique breast patterns that are established after puberty.  These patterns can only be altered by a developing pathology.  The first year a baseline must be established that requires two scans three months apart.  The initial scan is  limited. A  report is generated with a preliminary risk cateogry.  The critical appointment is the follow up that ascertains stability or change.  No change establishes as baseline.   A routine annual breast scan looks for vascular and lymphatic changes in the same way that an annual pap smear looks for cellular changes.  Benefits of breast thermography are multifold.  There is no radiation, no compression, no limitations by the density of breast tissue and no limitations of being confined to  the evaluation of the breast borders alone.  Thermography evalutates outside of the breast borders (chest walls, inframmaory regions, upper chest, brachial plexus and back).  Detecting vascular, llymphatic or hormonal change early allows for an earliery diagnosis or pre-emptive/preventative treatment at the earliest possible time frame.

Initial Breast Baseline Scan $200

Second (Followup) Breast Baseline Scan $200

Annual Breast Scan $200

Who Should Consider Breast Thermography?

All women can benefit from DITI, but it is particularly valuable for:
Women ages 30–50, when breast tissue tends to be denser and harder to image with mammography alone.

Women with a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors
Women seeking a radiation-free alternative or adjunct to other imaging methods
Thermography can serve as a clinical marker – helping doctors, sonographers, and radiologists focus their attention on areas that may require closer examination.

A Multi-Modality Approach Is Essential.

While thermography is a powerful tool, no single screening method is 100% effective. At SWMTI, we strongly encourage collaboration with your physician and recommend using DITI as part of a comprehensive breast health strategy.

Breast Thermography: Personalized, Preventative, and Radiation-Free.

Every woman has her own unique breast thermal patterns, typically established after puberty. These patterns remain consistent over time unless disrupted by a developing pathology. Thermography allows us to monitor these changes safely and effectively using no radiation and no compression.

Why Two Scans Are Needed to Establish a Baseline.

In the first year of breast thermographic imaging, establishing a baseline requires two scans, spaced three months apart.

The initial scan provides a limited view and generates a preliminary report with a risk category.

The follow-up scan is critical. It determines whether your breast patterns are stable or changing.
If no changes are detected, this second scan establishes your personal baseline and is a vital reference for all future annual scans.

Annual Monitoring for Vascular, Hormonal & Lymphatic Changes.

Much like an annual Pap smear detects cellular changes, an annual thermographic breast scan is used to monitor for:

  • Vascular changes
  • Lymphatic activity
  • Hormonal influence

These physiological indicators may reveal early signs of concern, often before structural abnormalities are visible through other methods.

The Unique Advantages of Thermography.

  • No radiation
  • No breast compression
  • Not limited by breast tissue density
  • Evaluates beyond the breast tissue, including:
    • Chest wall
    • Inframammary region
    • Upper chest
    • Brachial plexus
    • Upper back

By detecting subtle vascular, lymphatic, or hormonal changes early, thermography enables earlier intervention or even preventative treatment—well before symptoms develop or a diagnosis is made through conventional imaging.

Important Scheduling Notice for Breast Thermography

Please do not schedule your initial breast baseline or annual breast scan if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

We recommend waiting a minimum of 3 months after giving birth or after completing breastfeeding before scheduling your thermography appointment. This allows your breast tissue to normalize and ensures accurate thermal imaging results.

  • Initial Breast Baseline Scan $200
  • Second (Follow-up) Breast Baseline Scan $200
  • Annual Breast Scan $200

Take charge of your health—early detection, prevention, and peace of mind.
